Please find below the classroom and studio rules of Step by Step School
of Dance. I ask that all students and parents have respect and take
care of the studio facility, as we have a lot of visitors throughout
the year. We should all be proud of our facility and of where we have
chosen to dance!
Classroom Rules
Students are expected to enter every class properly attired. Please
read "Dress Code" section in our fall program brochure.
Any dancer who does not follow the dress code will not be permitted
to participate in their class, unless rectified immediately.
All students are to bring a medium size note book to class, so
the instructor can record weekly practice steps. Students in Grade
2 level and up are also required to bring a notebook to each class
to write down routines, etc.
Female Students: Underpants are NOT to be worn under dance attire,
as it creates lines and bulk. If a student requires a bra, please
buy bodysuits that have a shelf bra attached or if more support is
required a black or skintone bra, with a tank style bodysuit that
completely covers the bra (straps, back, etc.).
Female Students: Medium to long hair is to be worn in a proper
bun to every class. Please see hand out on "Tips on Buns".
Hair that is wrapped in an elastic to form a knot is not acceptable.
Bun kits can be purchased from your child's instructor ($2/kit).
Dance wear is to be form fitting.
Dance shoes must be a perfect fit. Shoes that are bought for students
"to grow into" will inhibit the student's ability to perform
the required work, and also will cause blisters. It is highly recommended
that you have the studio director or your child's instructor check
the fit of your child's shoes prior to their first lesson, before
elastic, taps, etc. are attached.
T-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts and hats are strictly prohibited
during class.
Ballet wrap sweaters and shrugs are acceptable, provided they are
form fitting.
No jewelry is to be worn during dance lessons, as this aids in
the prevention of injuries (scrapes, cuts, etc.) to students and other
members of their class.
No chewing gum within any part of the facility.
Nylon gymnastic slippers are not accepted as dance shoes, as they
are hazards for slipping.
No disorderly conduct in class. Talking is to be kept to a minimum.
If talking becomes a problem, the student(s) involved will be asked
to leave the classroom for the remainder of their class.
These rules are in effect at all times.
Studio Rules
In fairness to the students of Step by Step, everyone is asked
to enter the studio facility quietly, as classes are in progress.
Parents: If you are waiting in the lobby or waiting room during
your child's lesson please ensure that you supervise any children
that are waiting with you( the entire time) and that they are
also waiting quietly. Students: if you are getting ready for
your class or you are waiting in between your classes please
be mindful of the students that are in the studios and wait
quietly.
The instructors of Step by Step pride themselves in teaching
quality dance lessons. We thank you for your assistance and
understanding in the above matter.
I would like to stress the importance of parent supervision before
and after classes. Parents of children under the age of 12, are asked
to wait with their children before their dance class. All parents
are asked to pick up their children immediately following their dance
class. If your child is under the age of 12 and has a break between
classes parental supervision is required during your child's break.
Everyone's outdoor footwear is to be placed in the boot cubbies
located in the boot room inside the entrance. Outdoor footwear is
not permitted within the studio facility at any time. Please do not
leave your footwear inside the studio entrance door (on the carpet)
or infront of the boot room doors, as it creates a tripping hazard
and a serious fire escape safety issue.
All beverage containers, as well as food wrappers are to be placed
in the garbage cans located in the waiting room, changeroom &
washrooms.
No chewing gum within any part of the facility.
The pictures and awards in the front room are for everyone's viewing
pleasure. Please look but DO NOT touch!
Thank you in advance for respecting the studio rules and for keeping
the studio premises NEAT and CLEAN!!
